A global manufacturing company was experiencing inefficiencies in its inventory management processes. In other words, the company has suppliers across the world delivering product parts. As a result, multiple buyers are responsible for tracking the parts required for each product. They track from the manufacturing phase through delivery. This global team was looking for a custom database. The company needed a way to keep a master list of all inventory with easy access to parts’ delivery statuses and other pertinent information. They contacted Aciron to develop a custom inventory management system focused on enhancing supply management. This system would include features for parts tracking, management, and reporting.

Our Approach

Aciron conducted interviews with client personnel to understand the company’s needs. As always, Aciron followed an agile, iterative approach to the application development. This allowed the client to regularly review and make adjustments to the application. As a result, Aciron was easily able to incorporate the clients’ evolving requirements. Throughout the project, Aciron focused on open communication. We provided regular status reports and meetings and consistently engaged key client personnel. This ensured that project milestones were met on time and within budget.

The Solution

Aciron developed a custom inventory management application that enabled the company’s buyers to easily track and generate reports regarding the company’s inventory and deliveries.

The user interface of the application was developed to be clean and user-friendly. It enabled users to easily navigate and utilize the system and provided the client with a rapid means to collect, process, transmit, record, and manage inventory data. Additionally, the database provides a clear view of any inventory shortages and delays and provides communication tools. The system includes an extensive set of reporting mechanisms, which allows the planners, project managers, operations managers, and buyers to more effectively maintain inventory.

To sum up, the browser-based application eliminates inefficiencies by using multiple spreadsheets and manual processes to track inventory. Since completion, the system has proved to be a critical business application for the client. Its secure solution has driven productivity and increased margins, while reducing costs.
