Connecting the Volunteer Community through an Online Portal
How Aciron does it
A Boston-based health department sponsored a volunteer program to visit the elderly. It was in need of a database-driven web application. For example, this software would report participant information.
Above all, they were looking for a custom database application. The department needed to manage the information from participants and volunteers. In addition, the company wanted to generate automatic emails for assignments.
In other words, the challenge with the project was to create a system that integrated the needs of both administrators and end-users. Similarly, ensuring accurate and secure data capture. In addition, enabling consistent management capabilities. Security was of utmost importance due to the confidential nature of the information. Therefore, the key needs included a security framework, automatic email notifications, data input capabilities, and report generation. As a result, the company contacted Aciron to design the web application.
Aciron worked closely with the department to identify and document the key requirements. They needed to capture data and security for the system. After, Aciron developed a series of process flow diagrams and storyboard mock-ups. In conclusion, these documents enabled the client to view the application layout.
Aciron provided status updates on the workflows and storyboard mock-ups. However, the client was able to provide feedback. However, after the system’s design and functionality were finalized, Aciron created a plan to develop and implement it. As a result, Aciron delivered a system that performed exactly as the client anticipated.
Aciron developed a custom application web-based database. Thus, enabling the client to effectively and efficiently manage volunteers, documents, and participant information. In other words, some of the system’s features include:

The application provides report generation features, the ability to pre-populate forms, and tracking capabilities. Additionally, with its web-based design, this portal allows collaboration between all parties. Similarly, designed with the end-user in mind, this intuitive form provides an accessible and utilizable form. Therefore, enabling volunteers to manage and track their account information.
Due to sensitive information being on the platform, the security ensures that information was confidential. Similarly, each user was granted their own unique log-in. In conclusion, this enables them to safely manage their account.
