An international law firm that employs over 600 lawyers in 16 offices needed help. They realized the importance of communication among employees. Therefore, the firm knew they needed a way for employees to locate information. It was determined that they needed a SharePoint application.

At the time, the process of finding information such as phone numbers, departments, locations, titles was time-consuming and frustrating. The firm contacted Aciron to develop a custom employee directory.

Our approach

Aciron conducted a requirements gathering activity to understand the firm’s needs. Aciron was able to determine the best strategy for an employee directory while leveraging the firm’s existing technology investments. Based on our understanding of the firm's needs, Aciron proposed a custom browser-based .NET application. This application would access the client’s existing SharePoint directory.

Aciron designed iterative storyboards and process flow diagrams which represented the layout and functionality of the final employee directory. The Aciron team regularly reviewed such documentation with the client, incorporating client feedback throughout the entirety of the process.

Solution

In conclusion, Aciron developed a custom browser-based directory that was tailored to the specific needs of the client. Thus, allowing the client’s employees to find their employee information seamlessly.

The user-friendly UI included an intuitive display and navigation, which allowed users to search employees by name or other criteria, such as extension or office location.
