Streamlining Inventory and Global Supplier Management
Case Study: Inventory Management System
A global manufacturing company was experiencing inefficiencies in its inventory management processes. The company has suppliers across the world delivering parts for their products. As a result, the multiple buyers are responsible for tracking the parts required for each product from the manufacturing phase through delivery. The company needed a way to keep a master list of all inventory with easy access to parts’ delivery statuses and other pertinent information. The firm contacted Aciron to develop a custom inventory management system focused on enhancing inventory management. This system would include features for parts tracking, management, and reporting.
How We Added Value:
Aciron conducted interviews with client personnel to understand the company’s needs and challenges. Aciron followed an agile, iterative approach to the application development. Thus, allowing the client to regularly review and make adjustments to the application. As a result, Aciron was easily able to incorporate the clients’ evolving requirements.
Throughout the project, Aciron focused on open communication, with regular status reports and meetings. Aciron consistently engaged key client personnel. Therefore, ensuring project milestones were met on time and within budget.
Aciron developed a custom database driven inventory management application. This application enables the company’s multiple buyers to easily track, manage, and generate reports regarding the company’s inventory and deliveries.
The user interface of the application was developed to be clean and user-friendly, enabling users to easily navigate and utilize the system. The intuitive automated system provides the client with a rapid and accurate means to collect, process, transmit, record, and manage inventory data. Additionally, the database provides a clear view of any inventory shortages and delays. The database also provides comprehensive communication tools, eliminating the need of traditional communications, such as phone and email.
The system includes an extensive set of reporting mechanisms. Thus, allowing the planners, project managers, operations managers, and buyers to more effectively maintain inventory. With on-demand access to up-to-date detailed inventory data, the client is able to make more informed decisions. The browser based application eliminates inefficiencies, such as using multiple spreadsheets and manual processes to track and manage inventory. Since completion, the system has proved to be a critical business application for the client. Its secure and central solution has helped drive productivity and has increased margins, while reducing costs.
