An agency that provides financing for affordable housing found themselves to be in a state of substantial growth. The agency realized that a lot of breakdowns happened at any of the business processes, which ranged from loan origination to closing and maintaining the asset or the loan. Therefore, various departments and entities were involved in such business processes that spanned the entire organization. As a result, the agency was looking to identify the inefficiencies and pain points within these processes. In addition, the agency was extremely interested in evaluating a commercial third-party software platform to conduct most of the work in a seamless and optimum manner. The agency hired Aciron to help identify the pain points within the business processes. Aciron also conducted a current state analysis of the current technology platforms and helped with finding the most suitable system to fully automate business procedures.

How We Added Value:

Conducted in-depth interviews with business leaders and end users from across the agency.  During these meetings, Aciron gathered business and technical requirements. Also, Aciron helped the client clearly and concisely identify strategies for updating the current division’s business processes. Furthermore, we helped the client identify a clear set of software requirements.

Developed a robust need matrix that prioritized each department’s business and technical needs for a system. Discussing with agency leaders, the team sorted the overall goals and objectives by categorizing each need into categories. These categories were identified as Must Have” and “Nice to Have”.

Developed a decision matrix to find systems that would help the agency transform their business processes. After looking at all the requirements gathered, we were able to help the client identify requirements for transforming business processes and identified technology as an enabler. We were then able to provide initial recommendations and approaches for major portions of the new system. After clearly documenting these findings, the agency could make an informed decision on the best system. 


The agency was able to recognize real pain points around business processes and inter-department handshakes. In addition, had a clear vision for the organization’s future direction. The agency also identified a set of requirements and strategies to implement the system that will best meet their needs.
